The HCSO is a CALEA certified law enforcement agency. The CALEA Law Enforcement Accreditation process is very time consuming and requires a tremendous effort by agencies to meet hundreds of policies and procedures based on national best practices in the field of public safety and law enforcement operations. These best practices relate to life, health, safety, public interaction, investigations, and operational protocols. These standards are considered foundational for contemporary law enforcement agencies throughout the United States. Lastly, CALEA accreditation provides the framework for addressing high risk issues within a contemporary environment, and ensures officers are prepared to meet basic community service expectations and prepared to manage critical events.
As part of the CALEA reaccreditation process, the citizens served by each accredited agency have the right to share their concerns and comments directly with CALEA representatives. The overall intent of this public comment portal provided by CALEA below is to ensure our agency continues to improve as we seek professional excellence.
