Councilwoman Coonrod Speaks to HCSO Re-Entry Program Participants Friday
HCSO Re-Entry Program Hosts Chattanooga City Councilwoman Demetrus Coonrod as Guest Speaker
Hamilton County, TN – On Friday, January 31, 2020, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Re-Entry Program will host District 9 City Councilwoman Demetrus Coonrod as a guest speaker as part of their women’s program at Silverdale Detention Facility. The event will take place at 9:00 am.
During this time, Councilwoman Coonrod will speak to the inmates and discuss the importance of making the right life choices that will impact their future and opportunities for a prosperous, beneficial life.
Councilwoman Coonrod spent time at Silverdale when she was younger, an experience that forever changed her life. She will share her story of self-transformation to encourage these women to choose a better path for their lives.
The HCSO Re-Entry Program, led by Ms. Wendy Harris, focuses on helping inmates gain the knowledge, education, and skills to return to normal life once their incarceration is complete. The Re-Entry Program focuses on many different aspects of inmate personal growth including, but not limited to, assisting with locating suitable housing and transportation, employment, education opportunities, money management, alcohol, drug and recovery services, restoration of rights, and family reunification.
Members of the local media are welcome to attend the presentation. Those attending should arrive no later than 8:45 am in order to clear the extensive security process at Silverdale Detention Facility.
