After inquires from members of the public and local media representatives, Chief Deputy Austin Garrett is offering the following statement:

“Earlier this afternoon after continuing to experience body aches and fatigue, Sheriff Jim Hammond was admitted to a local medical facility at the recommendation of his physician for the purpose of continued evaluation and treatment relative to COVID-19 diagnosis.

I have been and continue to be in direct contact with the Sheriff. He remains in good spirits and greatly appreciates all the thoughts, prayers, and support he continues to receive from the citizens of Hamilton County.”
