HCSO Patrol Deputies Awarded Commendation
Hamilton County, TN – On Wednesday, September 15, 2021, Sheriff Jim Hammond and Chief Deputy Austin Garrett presented a commendation and sheriff’s challenge coin to Patrol Deputies’ Madyson Hazen and Timothy Denton for going above and beyond the call of duty.
Deputy Madyson Hazen was awarded a commendation for her efforts to support her patrol teammates while off-duty despite having completed a full tour of duty. By voluntarily choosing to stay after her scheduled shift was concluded, Deputy Hazen assisted her team with additional manpower and support. Her efforts, along with those of her colleagues, helped to secure a favorable and safe resolution to a potentially violent emergency call.
Deputy Timothy Denton was awarded a commendation for his efforts to save the lives of several people who were trapped in a partially submerged vehicle on September 23, 2019. The quick thinking and heroic actions shown by Deputy Denton saved the life of a three year old child as well as several intoxicated adults. Despite freezing water and hazardous conditions, Deputy Denton gave no thought to his personal safety; instead he placed the safety and welfare of the occupants of the vehicle above his own.
“The actions of these deputies exemplify the role of a dedicated public servant and are in keeping with the highest standards of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and their deeds and actions should be commended. It is an honor to serve alongside the men and women of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office,” Chief Deputy Austin Garrett.
Please offer Deputies’ Madyson Hazen and Timothy Denton your congratulations and appreciation for their service to the HCSO and the citizens of Hamilton County.
