HCSO SRO Unit Hosts Arrive Alive Event at East Hamilton High School
Hamilton County, TN - On Thursday, September 16th – Friday, September 17th, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer Unit, in conjunction with the administration of East Hamilton High School, hosted an Arrive Alive Event for students to stress the importance of safe driving habits and the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.
This special, two day safety event, included a vehicle simulation training component sponsored by the Arrive Alive Tour that allowed students to use a real vehicle and virtual reality technology to experience the dangers of distracted and impaired driving. The vehicle, stationed on rotating pads, allowed the student to actually turn the steering wheel and enjoy a realistic operation of the vehicle while remaining in a safe environment.
The simulator was provided by the UNITE Corporation as part of their highly successful, Arrive Live Tour, which was designed to heighten awareness of the dangers and consequences of drunk driving, distracted driving and texting while driving.
The SRO Unit will host another Arrive Alive event next week for students at Brainerd High School.
Organizations or educational institutions who would like to learn more about the Arrive Alive Tour, can visit the program’s website at www.arrivealivetour.org.
Also on hand at today’s event was the newly commissioned Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office 9-11 Commemorative Patrol Vehicle.
Thank you to HCSO SRO James Soyster for his efforts to organize this unique and special safety event.
