Hamilton County, TN – Sheriff Austin Garrett is releasing the names of the personnel involved in the deputy involved shooting on Thursday, December 29, 2022.

The names of the deputies are as follows:

• Detective Jeremi Vandergriff

• Corporal Chris Walker

• Civil Process Server Jason Cooper

As per standard agency policy, all three personnel have been placed on administrative leave with pay for (14) days.

During the incident, Detective Jeremi Vandergriff was shot and received treatment at a local hospital on December 29, 2022 and was released the same day.

Any requests for information regarding the Chattanooga Police Department personnel involved in the shooting incident should be directed to their media relations office.

As this is an ongoing investigation, any further requests for information should be directed to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
