04/19/2024

Hamilton County, TN – Earlier this morning, Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garrett and members of the HCSO joined with our local law enforcement partners in conjunction with Chattanooga City Mayor Tim Kelly and Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp to officially recognize April 21 - April 27 as National Crime Victims’ Rights week.

This proclamation seeks to support victims of crime, create awareness about the trauma of victimization, connect individuals to community resources, and educate people about victims’ rights.

Today’s event was sponsored by the Family Justice Center and featured guest speakers including Hamilton County District Attorney Coty Wamp, Carmen Hutson with the Partnership for Families, Children & Adults, Crime Survivor Nathan Carter.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard presented the colors and students from Silverdale Baptist School sang the National Anthem.

Please join us as we recognize April 21 - April 27 as the National Crime Victims’ Rights week and help educate our community on how we can help stop domestic violence and support victims of crime.

If you or someone you know has been the victim of domestic violence or abuse, please contact the Partnership for Families, Children, and Adult’s Crisis Hotline at 423-755-2700. In case of an active emergency call 911.
