HCSO Sponsors 3rd Annual Running Down Recidivism 5K
Saturday morning, the HCSO was proud to be this year's Presenting Sponsor of the 3rd Annual Running Down Recidivism 5K Run benefiting The BRAVE Effect.
Several members of our agency, including personnel from our Re-Entry Program, Patrol Services, Administration Services, Accreditation & Standards, General Counsel’s Office, and Property and Evidence Unit, participated in the race at the Chattanooga Riverfront which included food, music, vendors, and fun.
The following HCSO personnel placed in Saturday’s Race:
• Judicial Services Deputy Christian Adkins – 2nd Place Overall
• Grant’s Coordinator Megan Webb – 3rd Place Overall
• Property & Evidence Technician Michael James – 4th Place Overall
The Brave Effect’s founder, Joe Jenkins, spent several years of his life in the prison system beginning with his first incarceration at the Hamilton County Jail. Throughout his time in prison and upon release, Joe dedicated himself to changing not only his life but the lives of other inmates as well.
The Brave Effect’s vision is to provide successful reentry by empowering people to successfully beat the odds of recidivism. They do this through a special curriculum program that begins before a person’s release with one-on-one coaching, employment services, and more.
Thank you to all those who participated and helped to raise awareness and funds to support our community’s re-entry efforts.
