The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was called to 6827 Knollcrest Drive earlier this afternoon at approximately 5:05 p.m. regarding possible explosives. Deputies arrived at the residence and was advised by the new owners who were in the process of moving into the house when they found some suspicious articles in one of the closets.

Responding Deputies found what appeared to be military type smoke grenades and another type of chemical that could be used for explosives. The Chattanooga Police Department Bomb Squad was notified and responded to the scene. The Investigators took possession of the items to be removed for a safe disposal.

According to witnesses the previous owner of the residence passed away sometime last year. The investigation is continuing.
