School Bus Fire
This afternoon at approximately 3:46 p.m. a school bus transporting 34 students from Daisy Elementary School caught fire. The bus was traveling on Daisy Dallas Road when the fire started in the engine area of the bus. Although the bus filled with smoke, the driver was successful in evacuating all 34 students with no injuries reported from either fire or smoke. One student injured their ankle while jumping from the emergency door that is located at the rear of the school bus. The quick action taken by the bus driver was certainly a contributor that prevented any of the students from serious injury.
Some of the students involved were picked up by their parents at the scene and the rest were transported by another school bus called to the scene.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
