Trevor Guthrie arrested for Reckless Homicide
Trevor Guthrie was taken into custody today at Erlanger Hospital where he is employed and transported to the Hamilton County Jail. Mr. Guthrie was indicted by the Hamilton County Grand Jury for the traffic fatality of Ley Meridith Birmingham which occurred on February 3, 2008 in the 9800 block of East Brainerd Road. Mr. Guthrie will face the charges of Reckless Homicide, Felony Reckless Endangerment and four counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
After an intensive investigation by Investigator Todd Cook of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division, it was found that Ms. Birmingham and Jonathan Crowe had been at the residence of Trevor Guthrie which is located in Ringgold, Ga. While there, they and other teenagers were provided beer by Mr. Guthrie. They left the residence with Ms. Birmingham driving, going to a convenience store and were returning when the crash occurred. The crash reconstruction found that Ms. Birmingham was impaired by alcohol at the time of the crash and that high speed was also a factor.
