Mr. Benjamin Brewer is awaiting extradition from the Fayette County Detention Center in Kentucky to Hamilton County right now. He was supposed to appear before the Kentucky judge earlier this week for that. However, now he also faces charges of criminal mischief and trafficking of a controlled substance, therefore, he should face extradition at his next court date on August 19. (Brewer neither agreed nor refused to be extradited this past Monday.)

If he agrees to extradition (signs a waiver), the Sheriff's Office Fugitive Division will travel to Kentucky and transport him back to our jail; that should happen within ten days or so after his hearing. If he refuses extradition, the Sheriff's Office and our District Attorney will issue a "Governor's Warrant" to extradite him back to Chattanooga. That could take several weeks longer.
