HCSO Deputies Involved in Pursuit on Suck Creek Road
Driver in Custody
Hamilton County, TN – Just moments ago, what began as a routine traffic stop, resulted in a police pursuit up Suck Creek Mountain and several side roads in between.
Deputies noticed a vehicle on Signal Mountain Road that took off at a high rate of speed after the driver saw a law enforcement patrol vehicle. Deputies tried to stop the vehicle and the suspect failed to stop.
Deputies then began to pursue the driver and were lead to the top of Suck Creek Mountain. Once atop the mountain, the vehicle then turned around and proceeded back down the mountain where he turned onto River Canyon Road, headed towards Marion County. The vehicle then, once again, turned around, and headed back toward Suck Creek Road.
As the vehicle headed back down River Canyon Road, deputies ahead of the vehicle deployed spike strips and effectively disabled three of the four tires and caused the vehicle to come to rest. The officers were then able to place the suspect into custody without incident.
The suspect has an extensive record and will be charged with driving on a revoked license, reckless driving, and evading arrest. Pending the outcome of the investigation, more charges may be filed.
This is still an evolving investigation and no further information is available at this time.
