Hamilton County, TN – Earlier this afternoon, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office personnel hosted a safety discussion for the entire kindergarten class at McConnell Elementary School in Lakesite.

The event featured an enjoyable discussion led by Patrol Deputy Danny Stone along with individual remarks and support from Sheriff Jim Hammond, School Resource Officer Mike Houston, Detective Bobby Rush, K-9 Deputy Joe Sanchez, K-9 Deputy Andrew Voss, and Public Information Officer Matt Lea.

Today’s discussion included stranger danger, firearms safety, when to call 911, bullying prevention, and how children can come to law enforcement personnel for help.

The highlight of the presentation was when Turbo and Cibo, two of the HCSO K-9’s performed some demonstrations and interacted with their handlers.

To conclude the presentation, the kids got to see various items of equipment such as a duty belt and bullet resistant vests. They also received safety coloring books, pencils, and Junior Deputy badges to take home!
