HCSO Personnel Celebrate National Read Across America Day
Hamilton County, TN – Today, in partnership with the Hamilton County Read 20 Program, Sheriff Jim Hammond and several members of the HCSO visited numerous public schools throughout Hamilton County to celebrate National Read Across America Day. Throughout this week, several personnel took time to visit our schools to promote the importance of literacy.
“You can travel all over the world from the comfort of your chair when you read a good book,” said Sheriff Jim Hammond as he spoke to students today. “Reading will open new worlds and opportunities to you throughout your life,” he noted.
The schools visited today, as well as the others visited throughout the week by our personnel are as follows:
Signal Center, Inc.
Orchard Knob Elementary
Orchard Knob Middle School
Hardy Elementary
Clifton Hills Elementary
Woodmore Elementary
Hixson Elementary
Soddy Elementary
Participating in events like this offers law enforcement personnel a valuable opportunity to build positive relationships with our community’s children and promote the importance of reading.
Not only did Sheriff Hammond visit our local public schools, but he also visited the historic Signal Centers, Inc., as well as conducted an online Facebook LIVE reading today at noon for homeschoolers via our HCSO Facebook.
Please offer the following personnel your appreciation for taking time out of their day and reading to our community’s children.
