PUBLIC NOTICE - CALEA Accreditation Information
In a continuing quest toward law enforcement excellence, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled for a virtual on-site re-accreditation assessment during the week of June 29, 2020 to verify that the department meets the state-of –the-art professional standards.
The assessment is part of a voluntary program administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). The accreditation program requires agencies to comply in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
Because of the current Corona Virus Public Health Risk there will be no Public Information Session. However it is encouraged for the public to call in on Tuesday, June 30th, 2020 and offer comments by calling 423 443-0314, between the hours of 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Comments will be taken by the Assessment Team.
Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Sheriff’s West Annex 6233 Dayton Blvd. Hixson, TN. 37343. Local contact is Miriam Monzon Accreditation Manager at 423 209-8953.
Any comments that you make will be considered by the assessment team as they review the agency and will also be reported back to the Commission. If you wish to supplement your verbal comments with a written statement or exhibits, you may send them to the Commission where they will be reviewed when the agency is presented for reaccreditation at a formal Commission Conference.
