Silverdale Detention Center Begins to Offer COVID-19 Vaccine to Inmates
Hamilton County, TN – In accordance with CDC guidelines, on Wednesday, March 24th, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office began to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to inmates at Silverdale Detention Center via our contracted healthcare provider, Quality Correctional Healthcare (QCHC). The vaccine was made available to the HCSO by the Hamilton County Health Department and has provided HCSO the opportunity to administer the vaccine to all inmates and corrections personnel who wish to voluntarily take advantage of the vaccine.
“I am very proud of our corrections personnel who continue to go to great lengths each and every day to follow the guidelines set forth by the CDC and our local health department to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in both the Hamilton County Jail and the Silverdale Detention Center,” stated Sheriff Jim Hammond. “I encourage those who have family or friends incarcerated in our Silverdale facility to urge their loved ones to get the vaccine so we can continue to maintain a safe, healthy environment for our personnel and the inmates in our custody,” he further noted.
The HCSO’s contracted medical provider, Quality Correctional Health Care (QCHC), is led by Dr. John Bates, and is physician-owned and operated. Offering a variety of medical services, QCHC is a nationally recognized healthcare provider with over 15 years of experience specializing in providing medical services to prisons and penal institutions throughout the southeast United States.
