HCSO Recognizes National First Responder Day
Hamilton County, TN – In 2019, the United States Senate passed a resolution designating October 28th of each year as National First Responders Day to honor the men and women of our Nation who put their lives on the line each day to protect their communities.
First responders dedicate their lives and risk their personal safety each day in order to serve and protect their communities. When the call for help comes, these brave men and women choose to run towards the crisis often in harm’s way. According to the Department of Homeland Security, 4.6 million career and volunteer first responders support the communities where they live. They are firefighters, police, emergency medical technicians (EMT), paramedics, and 911 operators. In times of emergencies, they are the first to arrive on scene.
“Today, as we celebrate National First Responder Day, it is important to acknowledge the vast contributions made to our community and our Nation by our local first responders. Each and every day, they put their lives on the line to ensure the safety of their fellow man. Today is one opportunity for us as a county and a Nation to say thank you to those who proudly serve as law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and 911 operators. The men and women of the HCSO are proud to serve alongside our fellow first responders as we seek to keep our community safe,” stated Chief Deputy Austin Garrett.
