Hamilton County, TN – Yesterday, March 8, 2022, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to the 1200 block of Bailey Avenue to investigate an officer involved shooting involving personnel with the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) at the direction of Hamilton County District Attorney Neal Pinkston.

Once the investigation has concluded, the HCSO Criminal Investigations Division will turn their findings over to the District Attorney.

The suspect involved in this incident is identified as Jonathan Hayward Finley. Finley was released this afternoon from a local medical facility and transported to the Silverdale Detention Center where he was book and charged with the following in regards to yesterday’s incident:

• Disorderly Conduct

• Resisting Stop, Frisk, Halt, Arrest or Search

• Aggravated Assault (Against a First Responder) x2 - (TCA § 39-13-102)

The HCSO does not identify the officers involved in these types of incidents and instead refers questions of that nature to the respective law enforcement agency.
