HCSO Corrections Services Re-Entry Program Hosts Inmate Resource Fair
Hamilton County, TN – The month of April has been designated by President Joe Biden as Second Chance Month in order to focus on prevention, re-entry, and social support opportunities for those incarcerated in our Nation’s jails and prisons. During the month of April, corrections institutions and social service organizations will be hosting events and activities focusing on creating opportunities for education, employment, housing and other essential needs necessary for inmates to successfully transition to the community after incarceration.
In recognition of Second Chance Month, on Friday, April 8, 2022, from 9:30 am – 3:00 pm, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Services Re-Entry Program will host a Resource Fair at the Silverdale Detention Center for inmates who are nearing their release date. Several local businesses and social services based organizations will be on hand to help with information pertaining to mental health care, housing, substance abuse recovery, transportation, education, counseling, health and dental care, and other important resources.
Friday’s Resource Fair will take place at the Silverdale Detention Center. A portion of the program will be open to the media to come and interview inmates and local employers from 10:30 am – 11:30 am about their experience. During this time, reporters will be able to ask questions, collect B-roll, and conduct interviews.
Events like this are important to show the community how HCSO Corrections and Re-entry personnel are trying to assist those being released with securing gainful employment, stable housing, and the ability to live happier, more productive lives.
This event is not open to the general public. All participating vendors have been pre-approved.
Media representatives who are interested in attending should arrive approximately (20) minutes early to complete the security check necessary to enter the facility. As a courtesy and for security purposes, we are asking the outlets who want to participate to please RSVP via email to media@hcsheriff.gov.
