Earlier this afternoon, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Austin Garrett, Deputy Chief of Law Enforcement Mark King, and Uniformed Services Captain Spencer Daniels presented two commendations to Signal Mountain Police Department Officers’ Aaron Bayer and Jennifer Sullivan.

Officers’ Bayer and Sullivan were issued commendations from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office for their efforts to respond to a ‘shots fired’ call at the address of a known and dangerous felon in order to assist a lone Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy responding to the scene.

The willingness of Signal Mountain Police Department Officers’ Bayer and Sullivan to respond to this incident helped to provide an added layer of safety and security for our deputy in order to adequately and professionally handle the potentially violent call.

Officers’ Bayer and Sullivan routinely assist HCSO personnel and have been able to form a strong relationship between both agencies which instills trust and professionalism at all levels. These two dedicated professionals constantly provide support to the HCSO and all citizens in the Signal Mountain area and have this agency’s utmost respect and support.

Chief Deputy Austin Garrett stated, “The dedication, attention to detail, and professionalism shown by SMPD Officers’ Aaron Bayer and Jennifer Sullivan exemplifies the role of a dedicated public servant and are in keeping with the highest standards of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. Accordingly, a Certificate of Commendation and Sheriff’s Challenge Coin are awarded to them for their service.”
