HCSO Corrections Services Re-Entry Program Hosts Inmate Job Fair
Hamilton County, TN – On Thursday, May 5, 2022, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Services Re-Entry Program will host a job fair at the Silverdale Detention Center for inmates who are nearing their release date. Several local businesses will be in attendance to provide employment opportunities for newly released inmates who are transitioning back into society.
In preparation for Thursday’s event, HCSO Re-Entry Program staff held classes to help inmates document their job skills, create personalized resumes, and develop interviewing skills. Altogether, (25) inmates participated in the job interviewing exercise. The goal of Thursday’s event is to help inmates’ secure employment upon their scheduled release.
Thursday’s Job Fair will take place at Silverdale Detention Center. A portion of the program will be open to the media to come and interview inmates and local employers at 11:00 am about their experience. During this time, reporters will be able to ask questions, collect B-roll, and conduct interviews.
Events like this are important to show the community how corrections services and re-entry personnel are trying to assist those being released with securing gainful employment and the ability to live happier, more productive lives.
This is not a public event and the attending businesses have been approved. Media representatives who are interested in attending should arrive approximately (20) minutes early to complete the security check necessary to enter the facility. As a courtesy, we are asking the outlets who want to participate to please RSVP via email to media@hcsheriff.gov.
