HCSO Hosts Tour of Silverdale Detention Center for County Mayor Wamp and School Superintendent Justin Robertson
Hamilton County, TN – Earlier this morning, Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garrett and Deputy Chief of Corrections Shaun Shepherd hosted a tour of the Silverdale Detention Center for Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp and Hamilton County Department of Education Superintendent Justin Robertson. Both Mayor Wamp and Superintendent Robertson were joined by members of their staff.
Today’s tour included the existing facility and walk-through of the new construction currently underway as part of our Phase 1 expansion. Mayor Wamp and Superintendent Robertson were able to see several areas of the facility where the inmates are held and numerous improvements and upgrades that have been made at the facility since the HCSO took over operational control of the facility in December 2020.
“I appreciate County Mayor Wamp and Superintendent Robertson for taking the time from their busy schedules and allowing us the opportunity to show them all the progress occurring at the Silverdale Detention Center. I am proud of our continuing efforts and commitment to bring this aged facility up to the standards of a modern, state-of-the-art detention center,” stated Sheriff Austin Garrett.
Today’s tour was designed to give both County Mayor Wamp and Superintendent Robertson an overview of the facility and operations at Silverdale and an update on the progress the HCSO is making with the Phase 1 construction project.
