HCSO Cosponsors the 2023 ROIC Annual Homicide Investigators Conference
Hamilton County, TN – On Monday, September 11, 2023, Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garrett joined Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp and U.S. Congressman Chuck Fleischmann to welcome over 700 law enforcement personnel from all over the southeast United States to the 32nd Annual Fall Regional Organized Crime Information Center (ROCIC) Homicide Investigator’s Conference. This year’s conference is co-hosted by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the International Brotherhood of Police Officers.
ROCIC is one of six Regional Information Sharing Systems (RISS) centers, serving thousands of law enforcement member agencies throughout its 14-state region as well as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Island. They are celebrating their 50th Anniversary of the RISS.
The mission of the Regional Information Sharing Systems (RISS) Program is to assist local, state, federal, and tribal criminal justice partners by providing adaptive solutions and services that facilitate information sharing, support criminal investigations, and promote officer safety. RISS has been supporting the law enforcement and criminal justice communities for 50 years. This includes networking and specialized training opportunities.
RISS offers secure information sharing and communications capabilities, critical analytical and investigative support services, and event deconfliction to enhance officer safety. RISS supports efforts against organized and violent crime, gang activity, drug activity, hate crimes, terrorism and violent extremism, human trafficking, identity theft, cybercrime, and other regional priorities.
Please join with us as we thank members of our HCSO Investigative Services for all they have done to prepare and co-sponsor this year’s conference here in Chattanooga.
