Terrell arrested and charged on home burglary
On February 24, 2010, acting on information received from a burglary victim, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Division and Narcotics Special Operation Division made arrangements to meet with the suspect at a restaurant on Hixson Pike, to buy stolen property that was being advertised on E Bay.
The residential burglary occurred on February 22, 2010 at a home in Ooltewah. The victim noticed items listed for sale on EBay appeared to be from his residence. A meeting time was set by investigators to meet with the suspect and after the undercover operation was completed, Derek Baxter Terrell age 18, was taken into custody without incident. A search of the suspects residence was completed and numerous items were recovered that had been identified as taken in the victims burglary and other vehicle burglaries from area subdivisions.
The recovered property included .38 caliber pistol, digital cameras, GPS devices and numerous other items valued at $4,500. The suspect was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and booked on the charges of Aggravated Burglary, Theft over $1000 and Burglary of an Auto.
The investigation is continuing and other charges are pending.
