HCSO Featured in National Sheriff & Deputy Magazine
Hamilton County, TN – Sheriff Austin Garrett is proud to announce our nationally recognized recruitment efforts have been featured in the March/April 2024 edition of Sheriff & Deputy Magazine.
Published by the National Sheriff’s Association (NSA), Sheriff & Deputy Magazine is one of the premier law enforcement publications in our nation and focuses on a variety of best practices, technology, and research in the field of law enforcement, corrections, and court security.
Each issue highlights successful law enforcement-based programs and innovative trends that are changing how law enforcement agencies are meeting the ever-changing needs of the citizens they serve.
In this most recent issue, the HCSO was featured due to our overwhelming success utilizing technology, robust recruitment efforts, and data-driven HR strategies to market our agency to potential job applicants at a time when most law enforcement agencies are struggling to hire and retain personnel.
In addition to the aforementioned article, the HCSO’s recruitment efforts were also noted nationally when our personnel were invited to present at the 2024 Foundation Research Associates (FRA) Police Recruitment & Retention Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Part of my vision for creating a robust recruitment plan focuses on attracting the best and brightest applicants to our agency and we are doing this by implementing innovative recruitment strategies that develop and foster relationships with our local colleges and universities, the use of state-of-the-art technology, and social media to market our agency and promote our brand. With each successful candidate we onboard we are essentially recruiting today for tomorrow’s leaders… We are challenging our applicants and asking, do you have what it takes to serve?” stated Sheriff Austin Garrett.
The article, co-authored by HCSO Chief of Staff, Ron Bernard, and Administrative Coordinator & Recruitment Lead, Rachel Frizzell, can be viewed on our HCSO Facebook page.
