Pedestrian hit on Highway 58
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of a traffic crash Friday, March 26, 2010 approximately 11:00 p.m. at 12359 Highway 58. When deputies arrived
on the scene they found that a 2002 Silverado Pick Up traveling north bound pulling a trailer, stopped in the roadway to fix a malfunction on the trailer. Both the driver and passenger in the truck exited the vehicle. The second vehicle involved, a 1990 Toyota Camry also traveling north bound driven by Carter Crooks age 22, started braking his vehicle but hit the left side of the trailer, then striking the victim. He then overcorrected and rotated approximately 180 degrees before coming to a stop. No reported injuries to the other occupant of the truck or to Mr. Crooks. There was no evidence of alcohol found.
The victim appeared to have critical injuries from the impact and was treated on the scene by Highway 58 Fire/Rescue and Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services. He was transported via Life Force to Erlanger Trauma Center. The victims name will not be released pending the notification of next of kin.
Any decision on charges will be made after the full reconstruction of the crash is completed. The investigation is being handled by Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigator, Sgt. Mark Kimsey.
