HCSO Participates in the 15th Annual Battle of the Badges
Hamilton County, TN – On Friday night, November 1st, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office participated in the 15th Annual Battle of the Badges at Camp Jordan. This year, the HCSO had three fighters, Sheriff’s Office General Counsel Brian Bush, School Resource Deputy Unit Sergeant Blake Kilpatrick, and Corrections Sergeant Stephen Roberts.
This year’s fight benefited the local Forgotten Child Fund and YCAP. The Forgotten Child Fund is a non-profit charitable organization chartered in 1965 by Chattanooga area firefighters and police officers to provide Christmas to children who are less fortunate. The YCAP program began in 1999 by local Chattanooga resident, Joe Smith as a boxing program for our community’s at-risk youth.
“As a board member for both YCAP and Forgotten Child Fund, I am extremely proud of this annual event and the money it raises to support our community’s youth. I am also equally proud of the HCSO fighters and all the other first responders who stepped up and volunteered to train and compete in this year’s event to raise money for these two great organizations,” stated Sheriff Austin Garrett.
This year’s Battle of the Badges included (13) bouts of excellent fighting between local area firefighters, EMS, and law enforcement personnel and (1) youth bout.
This year’s Battle of the Badges was ultimately won by the blue team (Law Enforcement) comprised of troopers, deputies, and police officers.
Let’s offer everyone involved in this event our appreciation for taking on this momentous challenge and helping to raise funds to ensure all of our community’s children enjoy a special Christmas morning.
