Law Enforcement Memorial
The Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony to honor our Fallen Officers will be held on Thursday May 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Site just adjacent to the Sheriff’s Office in the 600 block of Market Street.
This year’s ceremony will include area law enforcement agencies and dignitaries as well as law enforcement representatives from surrounding counties. Sheriff Jim Hammond has also included in this year’s program a segment to honor and recognize relatives of Fallen Officers. This very moving part of the ceremony along with the riderless horse will bring into focus the tremendous loss that is felt, not only to immediate family members, but to every law enforcement family as well.
The public is encouraged to attend and take part in this solemn event that honors those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty for their community. Those who paid the greatest price will never be forgotten.
