Special Olympics Torch Run
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office would like to invite all the media outlets to the Sheriff’s West Annex located at 6233 Dayton Blvd on August 26, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. A program will be held in the training room of the Annex to present a new torch for the Special Olympics to Judy Rogers, who is the Area 4 Director for the Tennessee Special Olympics. Law Enforcement represented will be Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Chattanooga Police Department, Collegedale Police Department, Red Bank Police Department, United States Marshalls Office, Federal Probation and Parole, Internal Revenue Service and Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The Torch Run was started in 1981 by Police Chief Richard LaMunyon in Wichita, Kansas and adopted by the International Associations of Chiefs of Police. The IACP is now recognized as the founding law enforcement organization for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
Please do not release this information to the public (until Tuesday) as Judy Rogers is not aware that she will be honored with the presentation of a new torch for the Special Olympics.
