Assault reported on Collins Road
An arrest has been made involving an assault that was reported to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office early this morning. Deputies were called to 10527 Collins Road, where the incident took place although the victim, John Altenhoff drove to an area store for help.
The victim advised that a male party wearing a black mask knocked on his front door and identified himself as a police officer. The victim requested some identification and attempted to call 911 but the suspect forced his way into the home. A fight took place between the victim and the suspect where the victim sustained numerous hits to the head with a night stick.
The fight continued into the front yard of the victim’s residence and the suspect called to a second suspect who was sitting in a truck. This suspect fired a weapon at the victim and was recognized by the victim as James Jeffery Davis, Jr. The suspects left the scene and the victim drove to the store for help.
The suspect, James Jeffery Davis, Jr. was located in Catoosa County where a hold was placed on him with the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office. A warrant was filed in Hamilton County General Sessions Court charging Davis with Attempted First Degree Murder. He is in the Catoosa County Jail until he can be brought back to the state of Tennessee.
The investigation is on-going involving the second suspect and being handled by the HCSO Criminal Investigation Division. No mug shot is available at this time.
