Information update on the traffic fatality that occurred this morning at 12600 Highway 58.

The driver of the 1984 Toyota Pickup truck, Steven Eugene Evans age 37 of Meigs County, was traveling southbound on Highway 58 when his vehicle broke down. He was outside the vehicle attempting to burn a garbage bag at the rear of to warn oncoming traffic. Due to the darkness and no street lighting, an oncoming 1992 Toyota pickup truck driven by Timothy Walden age 29 of Ten Mile, Tennessee, hit both the victim and his truck.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the second truck was transported to Erlanger Hospital by Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division but at this time it appears no charges will be filed.
