Huckabee charged with Forgery
A routine call on a possible theft for Hamilton County Sheriff’ Office Deputy Mickey Rountree, ended up with the arrest of James Brett Huckabee with numerous charges of Forgery and the involvement of several other Law Enforcement Agencies.
On March 18, 2011, a reported theft from a mailbox in Hixson and the tenacious actions of Deputy Rountree, who followed up and found where the checks had been cashed, ended in the suspect being identified. The investigation found that the suspect forged his name on the checks then altered them to be payable to him. At the time of some of the thefts from mailboxes, the suspect was employed by the Chattanooga Times Free Press as a paper deliverer. He was located at 1553 Dallas Lake road today but in an attempt to draw police away from the residence, he placed a false call through 911 on a disorder with a weapon at another address. This attempt to allude police did not work, as officers found him hiding underneath the sink in the kitchen.
The defendant is facing charges from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office of; Three counts of Forgery, three counts of Criminal Simulation, two counts of Theft under $500.00, one count of Resisting Arrest, one count of False Report and one count of Misuse of 911. There will be other charges pending with the HCSO as well Chattanooga Police Department and Soddy Daisy Police Department.
