HCSO Explorer Post 2070 compete in Georgia
On April 18, 2011, Explorer Post 2070 representing the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, traveled to Lawrenceville, Georgia to participate in a law enforcement Explorer competition. This competition was sponsored by the Northeast Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America and focused on competitive law enforcement skills that covered; high risk stops, DUI stops, unknown trouble scenarios, warrant service and domestic violence.
There were fifteen law enforcement agencies from Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina participating in this Explorer competition. While this is a learning experience for all involved, when the competition between each Explorer post begins it turns into fun as well.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 2070 is mentored by Deputy Eddie Sledge. The group meets and trains once a month to prepare for competitions such as this, while some will go on to have careers in law enforcement. This year they brought home the second place trophy in the “Unknown Trouble” competition.
