Leffew charged with burglary
A burglar alarm reported to the 911 Center and the quick response of deputies resulted in the capture of a burglary suspect.
This morning at approximately 7:21 a.m., a burglar alarm was reported at Thrifty Pharmacy, located at 8600 Hixson Pike. Deputies arrived on scene within minutes as well as a K-9 unit. There was evidence that someone attempted to gain entry to the business by kicking the front door as well as firing several shots to the lower part of the glass front door.
Deputies formed a perimeter that covered several blocks including a heavily wooded area just east of the business. Deputy Mickey Rountree and his K-9 partner Quanto entered the woods and during their search found property that belonged to the suspect. A short time later deputies positioned close to the intersection of Dallas Hollow and Hixson Pike, saw movement in the woods and observed the suspect who had changed clothes. He was taken into custody and transported back to the scene.
The suspect identified as William Leffew w/m age 32, was charged with Burglary, Reckless Endangerment and Possession of a firearm in the Commission of a Felony then transported to the Hamilton County Jail.
