Jeep Rubicon removed from crash site
The removal of the Jeep Rubicon was successfully completed this afternoon. Personnel with Yates Wrecker Service as well as the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office worked for several hours stabilizing the vehicle so that it could be safely lowered down to the W Road where it will then be transported to the Sheriff’s West Annex for further forensic analysis.
Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office were also notified this afternoon by Dr. Jo Ann Deblin, Department of Anthropology, University of Tennessee, the remains removed from the crash site have been positively identified as Gail Palmgren.
The W Road will continue to be closed to traffic due to safety concerns for the possibility of falling rocks and other debris with the upcoming heavy rain.
Both the media and public will be notified when the road will be reopened to traffic.
Sheriff Jim Hammond wishes to extend his thanks to both the media and public for their patience and cooperation during the recovery of the vehicle and the closing of the W Road.
