SWAT call to 12065 Haycutter Road
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was called by a family member to 12065 Haycutter Road this morning at approximately 9:30 a.m. on a requested well-check for Matthew Groves w/m age 28. When deputies arrived on scene the subject refused to either leave his bedroom or talk with Deputies. When it appeared that he was a threat not only to himself and others the decision was made to have SWAT respond to the scene.
Trained negotiators made numerous attempts to speak with Mr. Groves with no success. Although family members assured law enforcement that he did not have a weapon, when deputies attempted to enter the room, Mr. Groves did fire several shots through a wall.
Oleo Resin Capsicum Gas was fired into the bedroom of Mr. Groves and when contact was made with him, they found he was suffering from a self inflicted gunshot to the chest area. He was transported to an area hospital by Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services.
The investigation into this incident is on-going by HCSO Criminal Investigation Division.
