Medford Charged with Assault
On January 17, 2012 the Hamilton County Grand Jury returned criminal indictments on Corrections Officer Robert Medford for Aggravated Assault, Official Oppression and Misdemeanor Child Abuse. These charges stem from an incident that occurred on December 29, 2011 at the Hamilton County Jail involving Medford and a juvenile inmate.
According to witnesses, Officer Medford became upset with the inmate after the inmate sprayed a germicide liquid on him. He then entered the jail cell and used an unauthorized holding technique on the juvenile inmate.
Sheriff Hammond has placed Robert Medford on suspension without pay pending the conclusion of the criminal charges. He was arrested and booked today, January 24, 2012 and made the $10,000 bond set by the Hamilton County Grand Jury.
