Sheriff Jim Hammond would like to invite the media to the Sheriff’s West Annex located at 6233 Dayton Blvd. on February 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. for a presentation involving the use of Photo/LIDAR ( Light Detection and Ranging) hand held speed detector.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division will be the only division within the Sheriff’s Office utilizing this system and are now conducting beta testing using the hand held LIDAR speed detector. The compact system is a deputy operated and deputy witnessed photo enforcement application. Approximately 100 warning citations have been logged, although none have been issued. This device is being utilized in areas where excessive speed has been documented and/or fatalities have occurred and in conjunction with the Speed Spy and Speed Trailer.

This presentation will be held in the front parking lot area of the Sheriff’s West Annex so as to use vehicles traveling on Dayton Blvd. to document speeds.
