The single vehicle traffic crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in the 1160 block of Highway 27 involved a 2010 Nissan Cube. The driver identified as Tonya Frizzell, age 42 of Soddy Daisy was traveling north bound on Highway 27, when for unknown reasons her vehicle left the roadway and traveled in the median before hitting an embankment between the overpass for Levi Road. The vehicle went airborne and landed on its top on the shoulder of Levi Road, then rolled over, crossing Levi Road before coming to rest on the opposite shoulder.

The driver was transported to an area hospital where she died from the injuries she sustained in the crash.

The traffic investigation is ongoing and being handled by Traffic Investigator Robert Stockburger.
