Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Deputies received a 911 call this afternoon at approximately 2:15 p.m. in regards to a reported single vehicle traffic crash on Grasshopper Road.

Deputies responded to the 5900 block of Grasshopper Road and located a vehicle traffic crash involving a 1996 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. The crash investigation revealed the driver of the pickup was traveling east on Grasshopper Road and was negotiating a curve to the left. While in the curve, the vehicle went off the roadway on the right side and going partially in the ditch. The vehicle continued in the ditch until hitting a large tree.

The driver of the 1996 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck died from the injuries he sustained in the crash and was identified as Billy J. Leroy age 59 of Birchwood, Tennessee.

The traffic investigation is on-going and being handled by Traffic Investigator Todd Cook.
