Anthony O. Smith age 21 was appearing in front of Sessions Court Judge, David Bales today at approximately 12:30 p.m. on charges of Domestic Assault and Resisting Arrest. When Mr. Smith was called by the Judge to approach the bench, he asked for permission to leave the courtroom to use the restroom. He was advised that he could use the facilities located in a holding cell just adjacent to the courtroom. Mr. Smith then turned, running from the courtroom and out of the building.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Court Officers along with several Fugitive Division Detectives and Chattanooga Police Department located the suspect around the apartments on Grove Street. He was taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail. He will face new charges of Evading Arrest and Simple Assault resulting from this incident.
