On June 6-14, 2014 the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Department of Corrections, Probation and Parole office in coordination with the Friends of the Festival and Chattanooga Police Department conducted a compliance check for sex offenders at the Riverbend venue.

As a part of Tennessee law, convicted sex offenders are prohibited from attending functions located within a park. Under TCA 40-39-211 sex offenders are not allowed to be on or stop, park or stand on properties of a school, daycare, park or be within 1000 feet of those areas. The Riverbend festival is located inside of River Park and or within 1000 feet of a park and thus sex offenders are prohibited from attending this venue.

The combined effort of all agencies involved resulted in the arrest of four offenders located in the venue with warrants being obtained on two additional offenders for a total of six arrests made during this endeavor. This operation was a success greatly due to the combined cooperation of all the agencies involved who worked together to make our community a safer place for its citizens.
