Single Vehicle Crash 2300 Old Wauhachie Pike
A single vehicle crash was reported to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office at 1:39 p.m. today, Tuesday August 5, 2014 in the 2300 block of Old Wauhachie Pike. When deputies arrived on scene, they found a 2014 Kia with a single occupant (driver) who had sustained serious injuries in the crash. He was removed from the vehicle with assistance from the Chattanooga Fire Department and transported to an area hospital.
Traffic Investigator, Deputy Todd Cook advised the driver was traveling south bound on Old Wauhachie Pike when a large tree fell across the roadway, striking the vehicle on the roof. The vehicle continued going south bound approximately 200 feet striking the guardrail in several places before coming to a stop in a ditch on the right side of the roadway.
The driver is a w/m age 56 from Orangeburg, South Carolina. Additional information involving the crash will be released as it becomes available and pending notification of next of kin.
