The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office as part of the Tennessee Pharmaceutical Take Back Program collected 1,257.90 lbs. of unwanted or unused prescription drugs for the year 2014. The events are held each month at various locations within Hamilton County in addition to two stationary receptacles located at the HCSO West Annex 6233 Dayton Blvd. and HCSO East Annex located at 8395 S. Hickory Valley Road. The two stationary receptacles are available to the public for prescription drop off during business hours during the week.

Appropriate disposal of unused or outdated medications is one effective way to decrease the volume of pharmaceuticals entering our community waterways, as well as to avoid the possibility of a child gaining access to harmful prescription drugs.
