HCSO Deputy Brandon 'Josh' Bennett Recieves Commendation
Hamilton County, TN - On June 8, 2015 at the East Side Precinct, Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond presented a Certificate of Commendation and Challenge Coin to Deputy Brandon "Josh" Bennett for exemplary service to his department and the community for which he patrols.
In March of 2015, after detailed efforts and police work, Deputy Bennett uncovered a 'Chop Shop' operating in his patrol area after observing a Dodge truck that had been reported stolen. During the course of the investigation, two stolen vehicles, and numerous vehicle parts valued at $25,000 were recovered as well as counterfeit money. In total, three parties were charged with violation of the Motor Vehicle Chop Shop Act, Altering a Manufacturers Serial Number, Theft over $10,000, Setting Fire to Personal Property, Theft over $1000, and Criminal Simulation.
At the presentation, Sheriff Hammond stated, "Deputy Bennett's initiative, motivation, working relationship, and concern for the well-being of the community he patrols reflects great credit upon himself and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department, and is in keeping with the highest traditions of Law Enforcement nationwide." Sheriff Hammond further stated, "Deputy Bennett service is a perfect example of law enforcement working with the community to help make our neighborhoods safer places to live."
