HCSO Respond to Shots Fired Call - Arrest Made - Drugs Seized
Hamilton County, TN - On Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at approximately 11:00 am, Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputies responded to 2531 Cummings Highway, Apartment #14, on a report of shots fired. The dispatcher advised authorities that a black male, who fired the weapon, was also seen putting a backpack in the rear of a vehicle.
Chattanooga Police Officers arrived on scene first and detained Randy Williams, who was in possession of a semi-automatic handgun.
Williams' stated several parties were vandalizing his girlfriend's vehicle with a lug wrench. Williams' further stated one of the females came in his direction aggressively with the lug wrench. At that point, Williams stated he fired his gun in the air. The area in question was a residential and business area.
While investigating the incident, a strong smell of marijuana was emanating from Williams' vehicle and authorities asked for consent to search his vehicle at which time he declined. HCSO K-9 Deputies then responded to the scene and after a search of Williams' vehicle, marijuana, digital scales, several rolled marijuana joints, freezer bags, and a semi-automatic pistol magazine was found.
Williams' vehicle was seized along with a sizeable amount of cash and a handgun. Williams was taken into custody and was charged with several felonies.
