Hamilton County, TN - On Monday, February 29, 2016, at 9:18 am, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to 4724 Gates Lane in Apison, Tennessee, on a report of a three (3) year old child having been shot. Deputies arrived at the residence around 9:30 am.

The preliminary investigation conducted by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office indicates the child was shot while inside the family's vehicle while parked at 4724 Gates Lane.

The three (3) year old victim was transported to an area hospital by Hamilton County Emergency Services. Once at the hospital, the child was pronounced deceased by attending medical personnel.

The investigation into the child’s death is ongoing. Hamilton County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct their investigation into the cause and manner of death of the child.

The name of the victim is being withheld out of respect for the family.
