HCSO Hosts Successful Community Shred-It Campaign with WDEF News Channel 12 and Shred-It Company
Hamilton County, TN – On Saturday, April 23rd, the HCSO in partnership with the Shred-It Company and WDEF News Channel 12, hosted the first bi-annual Shred-It Campaign for the 2016 year.
Saturday’s event took place from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and several hundred residents participated.
This year’s event not only was a great success, but our staff and volunteers, including numerous reserve deputies, had to open early just to accommodate those who were already in line to get their sensitive documents shredded.
At the end of the day, over 108 pounds of prescription medication was collected by our Drug Take Back Program and over 9,200 pounds of sensitive documents were shredded as part of this beneficial community service event.
It is important for residents to have a place to dispose of their expired and unused prescription medications so that they do not end up in the wrong hands, illegally sold in the community, or flushed into our water system. Furthermore, having a safe place to shred sensitive documents alleviates the fear of identity theft.
The HCSO would like to thank all those who participated. We would also like to offer a special thank you once again to our partners, WDEF News Channel 12 and the Shred-It Company for their efforts to make this event a success!
