HCSO Awards Commendation to Deputy James Clack
Hamilton County, TN - On Monday, February 20, 2017, Chief Deputy Allen Branum and Deputy Chief of Law Enforcement Joe Fowler formally issued a commendation and challenge coin to Deputy James Clack for going above and beyond the call of duty. Also on hand for the ceremony were several of Deputy Clack’s colleagues.
On Saturday, March 4, 2017, at approximately 2:40 am, while walking to his vehicle, HCSO Deputy James Clack observed a white male attempting to burglarize a parking booth owned by Republic Parking.
Seeing the suspect was armed with a knife, Deputy Clack immediately ordered him to drop the weapon and lay on the ground. The suspect refused and a short struggle ensued until he was taken safely into custody.
The suspect was identified and was found to be an inmate who had been released from the Hamilton County Jail earlier in the evening. After being placed under arrest, the suspect was transported back to the Hamilton County Jail. During the intake process it was learned the suspect had also burglarized at least two vehicles belonging to deputies and possibly others.
Due to the quick action of Deputy Clack, further damage to the Republic Parking property was prevented and only minimal force had to be used to gain control of the suspect and the weapon he possessed. Deputy Clack used his training and displayed exceptional character when taking the suspect into custody. .
